ROBSON COMMUNITIES, INC. FILES COPY-CAT COMPLAINT

Some 10 months after Pinal County accepted a referendum petition challenging the rezoning of 2,500 acres to develop a massive golf-oriented retirement community next to a radioactive/toxic waste dump, Robson Communities Inc. has filed a complaint with the Superior Court of Arizona to keep their development off the 2002 ballot.

The Robson complaint alleges the referendum challenging the SaddleBrooke Ranch project was filed too late and that there should have been two petitions -- one challenging the rezoning and one challenging the Planned Area Development, which assumes the rezoning has been approved.

The complaint mimics a complaint filed by Anam Inc. and Oracle resident Elaine Helzer filed in June.

The Anam/Helzer complaint alleges the referendum challenging the Willow Springs project was filed too late and that the material attached to the referendum petitions was not complete.

The Robson complaint apparently ignores the fact that Arizona law requires that complaints against a referendum be filed within 10 days after the county accepts the petitions, making the Robson move appear frivolous.

In related news, a new group supporting massive development in the Oracle Junction area has recently been  formed.  The group,  calling themselves Pinal Voters for Planned Development, is headed by Helzer.

According to mailings sent to several local residents, the group was formed to focus on "ballot measures."

The mailings also request that folks contribute money to the Citizens For Positive Growth and Development (CPGD) so as to "combat community deterioration."

Several levels of contribution are offered with the highest rank being "Believer," costing $1000 per year.

Rumors that CPDG was planning to offer a "Martyr" level costing $10,000 per year are apparently unfounded.

Initial funding for Helzer's CPDG organization was provided by Robson, Anam and Helzer's relatives, to the tune of $14,000 in cash and equipment.
